Strip Chips

Poker chips have been used for many years as tokens that stand for actual monetary values. Instead of using the real coins, such as quarters, half dollars, or dollars, to bet, poker chips of certain colors are designated as certain amounts. Long time ago, poker chips were made by using the clay, but most of the poker chips nowadays are in fact a compound of several materials to make them much more durable than those made of clay alone. Most poker chips are made of some natural material of different types, such as sand, chalk, or clay, in part, but the rest is artificial material to help the poker chip to maintain its shape and last for a long time. Most home sets of poker chips include the colors red, white, black and blue.

Some chips are available in a variety of styles and designs, such as solid colored. Some have stripes, but now you can find many poker chips with artwork on them. The chip amounts can vary from a quarter to $1,000. Although in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, if you are in a high roller room the poker chips may refer big amounts for those who like to make big bets. You may see poker chips as high as $5,000, $10,000, or $25,000. Casinos make poker chips that are reasonably very hard to duplicate. Most have a different coloring, shape and design. Poker chips used within tournaments may be of a cheaper range, but the dealer watches so closely that using fake chips is almost impossible. Poker chips are also available in the market for home use.
