There are 3 areas of places in poker, the early position, middle position and late position. This is in relation to the button that goes around the poker table. Most beginner or new players do not give much attention to their position, which is not right. The players to the very left of the big shade are players in the early position. The early position means that the player is one of the first players to take action when the game starts. Being in the early position is considered to be a disadvantage. Those players who are playing to the left of players in the early position are in the middle position. Being in the middle position lets a player to observe the early positioned players first, but he still requires the late position actions.
Players in the late position are the last players to act in the round. Being in the late position lets a player to be in a position where the hand has been checked around you, and have the chance to formulate a bluff at the pot and win it right there. Thus being in a late position is considered to be an advantage. Being in the late position also gives a player a chance to be in a very good situation. If players in front are checking while you are in a late position, it is a good sign that your challengers are not holding anything expensive, and thus making the bluffing safer. Being in diverse positions affects your existing hand value considerably. |
